Ed Holyan

2001 INFR Champion

Casa Grande, Arizona

The All Around Championship Cowboy is considered by many to be the most talented and versatile cowboy in the world.  Ed Holyan from Case Grande, Arizona won this prestigious title in 2001.  Not only was he crowned the 2001 All Around Champion, he also walked away with the Steer Wrestling Title.

Holyan went to the 2001 Indian National Finals Rodeo in both the Calf Roping and Steer Wrestling event.  He said that winning the All Around Title is the ultimate goal of any multi event competitor.

Holyan is a very dedicated, disciplined cowboy.  He says, “It has taken him a lot of practice to get him where he is today.”  This cowboy’s hard work has seemed to pay off, he has been a dominant competitor throughout the 1990’s.  He also won the INFR All Around Championship in 1992, ’97, and ’99, the Calf Roping Title in 1987 and 1992, and the Steer Wrestling Event in 1999.

In both events Holyan competes in he says, “You definitely need a good horse in this day and age”.  In calf roping he focuses on speed, smoothness, and finesse.  In steer wrestling he focuses on strength and uses a “no fear” attitude.

Another reason Holyan is so successful is in every rodeo he enters he always tries to be the best he can be.  He gives his best effort in every run and never does things half way.

Holyan would like to thank first and foremost God, because through Him all things are possible.  Secondly he would like to thank his whole family for all the support he receives from them every day.
